Somewhat dissappointing - Over the Hedge Reviews
I thought this movie was going to be hillarious. Don't get me wrong, there were some funny parts to this film, but it really lacked excitement, and it was very predictible at times. It also took a long time for you to really get into the feel of this movie. I would however reccommend it for a family film, otherwise, I say just wait for it to come out on DVD. Good graphics and great characters in this animation...just something missing from this film that would make it Over the Hedge.
So funny!! - Over the Hedge Reviews

Way better than madagascar - Over the Hedge Reviews
Lately animated movies have been very derivative of other animated movies, for example elements of A Bugs Life show up in Madagascar. I know that this movie is based on a popular comic strip, but I've never read the strip, so while watching this movie I had nothing to fall back on. I really really enjoyed it. (It's not perfect mind you because of some substandard direction, but 95% percent of the humor hits the mark.) Oh, by the way, it's absolutely beautiful to look at. The animation is flawless.
This was a very good fun movie my kids loved. - Over the Hedge Reviews
I found this movie to be one of the better animated movies of the summer and much more appropriate for children than many of the other animated movies (like monster house which you should be at least 15 to see). I highly recomend this movie to anyone who wants a good story with some decent music and some funny scenes.

Pixar-worthy! - Over the Hedge Reviews
Dreamworks have always made entertaining movies, even the pretty mediocre Shark Tale and Madagascar were at least entertaining in their own ways. But with the exception of Shrek, Dreamworks have never really stood tall next to Pixar, to this day Toy Story, Finding Nemo and The Incredibles all stick strongly in mind. Dreamworks could never do this, thankfully, they come pretty damn close with Over The Hedge.
The plot follows a feisty racoon, RJ, who has stolen a bears food, the bear wants RJ to get him all his food back within a week or he will kill RJ. RJ travels to Suburbia where he finds some local woodland animals baffled by the sudden appearance of Suburbia on their front lawn, RJ takes advantage of them and begins to get them to steal food of the local residents so he can steal it all later and save his own neck.
The really good thing about Over the Hedge is the fact it never seems to desperately show off as much pop jokes as possible, yes their are a few, but they are kept to bare minimum and the movie definately benefits from it. Shark Tale shoved things like Coral Cola, GUP etc in your face until you went red with annoyance. Over the Hedge gets it laughs from good writing and also a pretty nifty plot.
The voice cast for this movie is definately the best thing, Bruce Willis is superb as RJ, Steve Carrol steals the show as the hyper active Hammy, Wanda Sykes is great as Stella the Skunk, and notable effort as well to Gary Shandling as Verne the tortoise. They all work perfectly together and the movie just seems a much neater affair that the likes of Madgascar which when i think about it was quite lame.
Over the Hedge does have its faults, i just fealt after the nice first laugh the movie seemed to dry up slightly. It definately regained its pace once the animals went "over the hedge" but until then it seemed a bit lacking in the humour department, there were smaller jokes in there but nothing to have you burst out laughing. Also the initial stealing of food seems over and done with a little sooner than i hoped for.
Over the Hedge might not be up to the greatness of Shrek, Toy Story ot Finding Nemo. But in my eyes it holds strong against Shrek 2, A Bugs Life, The Incredibles and Monsters Inc. Definately one of Dreamworks best movies so far.
Dreamworks could do so much better - Over the Hedge Reviews
This movie was good but it could have been so much better and so much funnier. This direction was poor and could have made this movie so much better. If your the tipe of person that likes animation movies Over the hedge is for you but this movie is made for younger children. The movie is verry fair but it was way way to short.
Dreamworks you could do so much better
The best movie ever - Over the Hedge Reviews

Not your traditional g rated kids movie - Over the Hedge Reviews
Fun story, but the PG rating does match the content. Seems all movies today need to be PG or they are just kiddie movies, Classic Disney movies prove otherwise.
The story is good, movie fast paced, funny, will keep kids attention. Not quite the level of a Shrek movie for adults.
Annimation quality is very realistic compared to non-computer annimation. It is like a whole new catagory of film type now. Like it looks real, but not quite level that works.
The jokes and humor are at a teenage level, or parody of life in the suburbs. The suburb part works, the teenage jokes may be too much for the pre-teens if they understand it, if over their heads it won't matter - this is PG.
Thought the begining was a rip-off of the old "Night On Stone Mountain" laser show from Stone Mountain Park Georgia at first. But, thinking later not quite true as there we had C.W. the squirel with Bufford the Bear. A annimation short done in laser show form - jokes of "laser beans" a food for bears instead of laser beams. Similar part was waking the bear too early.
But, B.J. the Racoon was this movie and had good story with a lesson to be learned by the young ones if they pay attention at the end. Family helps each other, even if they did lie or cheat, but forgive when ask forgiveness.
I think this will soon be passed by Pixar's Cars movie for annimation of 2006, but is still a good 2nd place for the year so far.
For kids or adults? - Over the Hedge Reviews
Be sure to take the kids with you when you go.
There were four adults in our party and we were howling so loudly I was unable to do my usual survey of the children that I make when I attend a "childrens'" movie.
So, it wasn't until after the movie that I was able to get a take on how the children in the theater reacted to this Oscar quality movie.
Those I overheard were busy telling the adults about the parts the adults missed and just how great they were!
Can't wait for the DVD!! Just hope its in HD.
Hedge your bet on this one... - Over the Hedge Reviews
Dreamworks has managed to once again come in second place to Disney in these 'Pixar' type of animation films. Although, I have yet to see this year's rival 'Cars' the previews alone are better then 'Over the Hedge'. I am not sure why studios insist on spending so much on voice talents when the truth is that no name talents would probably serve the purpose for these type of movies. But I digress, the truth is that Over the Hedge is an entertaining film with great graphics and adequate character development. What is lacking is a story line. This movie would have been so much better if a moral or purpose to the story were more evident. However, the movie kept pace with my seven year old and her friend and that is really good enough for me. Kids will enjoy this much more than adults, which is what makes this film different than Disney/Pixar's films. If you are looking for a good matinee then this will do.

A very funny comedy for children and adults. - Over the Hedge Reviews
Over the Hedge suceeds as an animated comedy. This movie is one of the few animated comedies where not only a guarentee that children will enjoy but adults will probably enjoy too. Hammy, the squirrel (voiced by Steve Carell) steals the movie with hilarious dialogue and humor and even facial expressions. Without him, the movie would have just been okay or maybe average. He adds a big twist to the story which will make you laugh and smile.
Over the hedge was really good! - Over the Hedge Reviews
I really liked this movie..Verne the turtle was sooo cute! The only part I didn't like was Verne's ability to remove his shell. Real turtles cannot do this and children may think that they can and try and do this to a turtle! Plus, the rest of the movie was true to the rest of the animals, so why did they have to have the turtle take off his shell? Other than that, it had lots of laughs, some rather sad parts with happy endings, and unlike Disney movies, no cute little character had to die! Go see it, you will like this one!
The best movie of the year so far! - Over the Hedge Reviews
Over the Hedge is the best comedy of the year so far. It had me cracking up the whole way through! This movie deserves an A++. It had halarious jokes that made your stomach hurt and it kept the story moving along. Everyone in my family loved it and it's great for little kids. Wonderful.

Pretty cute and enjoyable for kids & adults - Over the Hedge Reviews
Went to a night showing on a weekday, so funnily, there were not many children in there, just couples who were hiding the fact that they wanted to see this movie. How can you not? the previews looked really good.
Anyways the movie played out ot be pretty funny, it was strange how a lot of the jokes were adult-based (not sexual or anything, but jokes like Dr. Phil, lines from Citizen Kane, etc.) So adults may get more laughs out of this than you think. I think kids would enjoy this as well as there was a lot of action, and of course, furry animals. It reminded me much of Toy Story or some kind of story like that.
Sad to say, I might even rate a movie like Monsters, Inc. better than this one, but still I think anyone should watch it because it is very cute.
A very clever antimated film! - Over the Hedge Reviews
Over the Hedge made me laugh out loud several times. I found the writing to be funny and not peppered with pop culture references. I especially liked Hammy! Steve Carell was great as his voice. Come to think of it, all of the voice acting was wonderful.
If you are looking for a great family movie that is just plain dumb, this is not the one for you. Go see Over the Hedge if you like smart comedy.
Over the hedge, over the top! - Over the Hedge Reviews
I give four paws up to this movie. It was well worth the wait. It is the funniest movie I've seen for years, about a raccoon named RJ who has to find food to replace a stash he stole from a bear in a week, or die.
He meets the animals, a turtle, a squirrel, a skunk, some possums and a family of porcupines, and introduces them to human life. It is a brilliant satire on human obsessions as well as an altogether hilarious animal movie.
The squirrel Hammy really steals the show. Of course, it is not nonstop laughs. It has some poignant moments that bring tears to my eyes, especially as RJ has to find out what a family is all about, and what he is to do about it.
Well worth the money. Go see it, already! You won't regret it.

Steve carell didnt get enough lines! - Over the Hedge Reviews
Steve Carell character Hammy is definetly what made this movie especially funny. I was surprised that he didnt have more lines in the movie. My daughters who are 8 and 2 loved it. I could tell because their attention never left the screen and for a 2 year old thats pretty good. I'll admit that towards the middle I did get a little restless but I think it was because the story started to drag but it was always Hammy that kept me laughing. All in all it was worth seeing and the cast was great. I'll admit Im not a huge Avril Levigne fan but her voice fit and didnt leave me cringing like I thought it might. So definetly go see it but if you like Steve Carell dont be surprised to see that his character doesnt really have alot of parts or at least should have.
I love over the hedge - Over the Hedge Reviews
I LOVED ALL THE CHARACTERS (ESPECIALLY HAMMY).I DON'T SEE WHY SOME PEOPLE DON'T LIKE THIS MOVIE. IT WAS TOTALLY AWESOME.WHAT DO YOU NOT GET ABOUT #1 COMEDY ? DUH
Grow on this hedge! - Over the Hedge Reviews
A terribly cute, terribly funny comedy. As usual, Dreamworks delivers the best of the best animation.
RJ is in debt to a homicidal bear with a passion for food and RJ has to repay all of the food in a week. Meanwhile, a group of animals awake from their hibernation to find a large "green thing" near their area. By change, RJ meets these animals. He convinces them to gather food from over the hedge in order to pay back the bear.
"Over the Hedge" provides tons of laughs with comical scenes that both kids and adults can enjoy. There is very mild, brief violence and some explosives, but it adds to the comical movie experience.
Filled with an all-star cast playing funny, oddball characters like a (super) energetic squirrel, a loud outspoken skunk, a father possum that insists on playing dead, and even more!
While watching, you'll learn to grow on this hedge!

Fun for young and old - Over the Hedge Reviews
from start to finish it was a very fun ride . The older "kids" will get all the hidden inuendoes this movie has to offer and the younger ones will love how RJ and his pals come together to solve one of lifes biggest questions
"Whats For Dinner?"
This is so funny - Over the Hedge Reviews
this movie was so funny i laughed my head off!!!!! i loved how real the animals looked. my favorite charaters were RJ the raccon and Vincint the bear. i hope everyone who sees this movies enjoys it!!!
For children 6-8 - Over the Hedge Reviews
This movie was obviously for younger children though they did a poor job of mentioning that in the trailors. I found the story to be pretty predictible and the plot was fairly basic. In addition there needed to be more music, I only recall one song throughout the whole movie. At the beginning it was a little slow and what happened in the end was very unrealistic. Yes, of course the whole thing is unrealistic but they could have made it a somewhat more believeable. I was very disappointed, I felt that I had waisted my money which I wrapped pennies, nickles, dimes, and quarters for. Don't go see it, either wait till it's on cable, or just forget about it completely.

Disappointment - Over the Hedge Reviews
You know things aren't starting off right when the Ad's and trailers last 16 minutes instead of the usual 10 minutes. Then more time was filled by an uninspiring, unrelated 12 minute cartoon.
I took 6 boys to see this movie (7-10yrs) and there was random laughter and one line that stuck in their heads because it was boy bathroom humor. Even though this movie was extremely short it grew old quick. I love taking my kids to see kid's movies, but this one is definately only worth a rental. It's sad that movie creators rely on the "star" voice overs to carry these cartoons because they are not able to create quality movies anymore. Sharks Tale is another example of the actors trying to carry a bomb. Last quality kids movie was definately the Incredibles.
Considering how expensive movies are now, the writers of this movie should be embarrassed by insulting us with almost a 1/2 of junk before we even got to see their average movie.
It's for kids people. - Over the Hedge Reviews
You can't go wrong with this one. Take your kids and they will have a laugh riot. People who get overly crittical of this one are critic want to be's. Go see it. It's fun.

Disappointing - Over the Hedge Reviews
After several ground breaking cartoons, Dreamworks has left a lot to be desired with Over the Hedge. The story is lame, the jokes aren't funny and just for the record and animal farting/burbing has been so overdone its burnt. Of the 4 animated flix out this year I put it slightly above "The Wild" which was about as bad as they come. (For the record I enjoyed Ice Age II and Curios George)
Let's hope Pixar can keep up there string of hits with Cars.
Adult humor does not belong in kid's movies....... - Over the Hedge Reviews
This movie was really cute! The moral was great, the animals were adorable....but....why do they have to add adult humor in children's movies? Like they have to add it to appeal to the adults...which they don't. It is sickening how they ruin a perfectly cute and morally ethical movie with crap.
****SPOILER****
For instance....when RJ says something to the effect of what to do if the humans come out..he replies that they should 'lick their privates'. My kids do not need to hear that. Then when the human comes out, they are all bent over with tongues hanging out (not actually licking though). And the squirrel makes numerous reference to 'finding his nuts' and other 'nut' reference. Not necessary. That is why the overall was a C+.
Our family thought it rocked! - Over the Hedge Reviews
We laughed out loud throughout this entertaining film... The characters were fun and the story line was cute. We loved all of it... right to the end.... no, the real end... after the credits.... worth staying for one final laugh. We give it an A+ all the way around... We were blown away at the animation... the shine on the skunks coat for instance... or the clouds in the background or the detail in the asphalt or leaves in the hedge itself... Very nice. A lot of fun and great for the family... there were just as many adults (without kids I might add) as there were kids there enjoying this light hearted movie. We loved it and I am sure you will too. Not a waste of money like so many are today. Genuinely entertaining.

Over the world! - Over the Hedge Reviews
Strap yourself up for a fun filled adventure! This is a great family movie. It really taught kids about preserving the enviorment with less pollution, "Woah that's a big SUV, how many people can fit in it." "Usually one" With this movie, there are alot of morals and lessons from life. All that stuff fit into one hilarious little movie. What you waiting for!... Grab the kids and go to the theater!
Great fun for kids - Over the Hedge Reviews
This movie will keep the kids laughing and there is enough in it to keep the adults amused as well. Go for it!

One of the best cgi animated films of all time. - Over the Hedge Reviews
I watched the screener last night with my brother and the movie was better than I expected. The animation was done well. The voices nailed the characters and it was just plain funny. I can really enjoy a comedy, but only laugh out loud a few times. This movie was non-stop fun and great for the whole family. There weren't as many jokes that would go over young ones head like in Shrek. All in all I was very impressed and would rank it up there with Ice Age and Shrek. Enjoy!
Hedge your bets for a good time - Over the Hedge Reviews
There's a significant difference between the philosphies of the two biggest animation studios in America today: PDI (now Dreamworks) Animation and Pixar Studios. Pixar believes in telling timeless tales that always seem to be original. Dreamworks Animation believes in telling contemporary stories about events in the present and seem to follow formula. There is nothing wrong with either philosophy (except that more of Pixar's work will be deemed classic), except that Dreamworks has a trump card that they always seem to get close to, but rarely use: Satire.
Over The Hedge, based on the comic strip that is nothing but satire, is kinda like one of it's characters named Hammy who always is going in the right direction, but always seems to get distracted by a cookie. It has some satirical bite to it, but it keeps begging to do more. There are many missed opportunities to really dig into suburban life, consumerism, advertising, and urban paranoia. But it is genuinely funny and more or less likable.
The film starts off with R.J. the raccoon (Bruce Willis), who after losing a battle with a vending machine makes a terrible mistake by trying to steal from Vincent the Bear (Nick Nolte). Vincent's loot gets destroyed and gives R.J. a week to come up with it's equivilent otherwise the menu will be replaced with him. But where to get food that fast. Alas, there's a new suburban development full of rich food-filled people to nab from. But he'll need help. Cut to Verne the Turtle (Gary Shandling), Hammy the Squirrel (Steve Carrell), Stella the Skunk (Wanda Sykes), and an assortment of Porcupines and Possums. Fresh from hibernation, they have awoken to find a "scary-looking thing" has shown up in their woods. It is a hedge, but why would they know that? To quell the fear of it, they call it Steve until R.J. introduces it to them, and the possibilites to eat on the other side. But oh, are there dangers from cars, kids, dogs, and most of all humans, including The Verminator (Thomas Hayden Church), who creates some of the most painful-looking traps I have ever seen this side of a heist movie. So why go over the hedge? Because RJ gets them hooked on junk food, and as any American teenager can tell you, one just ain't ever enough.
I guess you can tell where this is going, which is sad because there's not many surprises when it comes to the story. The comedy is all there, including a scene involving a hyper Hammy and an energy drink that had me in tears.
Using mainly comedians like Shandling, Carrell, and Sykes allows for the comedy to feel original even when some is not. I especially liked Carrell manic voicework that definately caught the ADHD span of Hammy, but also his genuine heart.
The animation is clean, but perhaps a little too clean at the same time. The whole point of animation in these types of films is allow the belief of disbelief to live out in front of your eyes. While yes, we believe that these characters can talk to each other (Why is it that all the animals speak the same language and understand each other perfectly?), the film's locations (even the woods, doesn't seem to be filled with dirt or grime. Perhaps this is a small thing to complain about, but it still caught my attention and took me out of the action.
All in all, this is definately a great film to bring the kids to, and you'll have a great time as well. And just maybe, you'll realize just how addictive those nacho-flavored chips really are.
A lot better than i expected - Over the Hedge Reviews
I tend to like animated films in general. But this one really stood out for me. To be honest, I was never a huge fan of Dreamworks' animation studio. The movies were pretty good, but never as good as Disney. They lack the cute and cuddly flavor that pulls you into the story and makes you love the characters.
But this film was excellent. I loved the story, the characters, everything. The animation quality was also really impressive. It didn't have the super shiny fakeness that Dreamworks films normally do.
The whole criticizm of suburban living and people was hilarious and realistic despite seeming over the top. The poor little animals.
Okay, so yeah. See this movie. It was great. Not just for kids either.

Dull - Over the Hedge Reviews
I ended up leaving after about 40 minutes. It was dull and predictable. I liked the actors and the animation but the story line and jokes were rehashes. There seemed to be no creativity in the writing.
Worst. movie. ever. - Over the Hedge Reviews
Hopefully, in my life time, SOMEONE will make a film that is truly child appropriate. I might have to do it myself.
One small example: early on in the film, a bear delivers a terrifying death threat to a racoon whose attempted to steak his food, He purrs, full screen, "I"m going to kill you." Why do we, as parents, accept this as appropriate material for children?
This is simply a typical Hollywood formula (action film with violence, snotty women and cars flying through the air) dressed up in cartoon characters. Doesn't matter to me what "the message" is suppose to be--the impact of seeing and hearing death threats on myself and my children is NOT entertainment. Positioning violence, revenge and dangerous situations as entertainment is way bad for our collective souls.
Hilarious family film - Over the Hedge Reviews
This animated cartoon is one of the few that is excellent for children of all ages while still being captivating fun for adults too. If you only go to see one family movie this summer, this should be the one!

Heart warming and wonderful - Over the Hedge Reviews
This was indeed a wonderful assortment of charactors and fun with a message of kindness vs. selfish. We loved every minute of it!
Saving animal-kind - Over the Hedge Reviews
I took my 4yr. old to see this movie. She like the funny little animals and the music by Ben Folds. I, on the other hand, like the storyline and most of the jokes; there's one about Dr. Phil in one of the scenes.
RJ, the raccoon; voice by Bruce Willis, steals a bundle of food from a bear name Vince; voice by Nick Notle. RJ promises Vince that he could replace all the food by the next full moon. So off he goes with a shopping list (it would have been funny if the shopping list was made from a Wal-mart ad) and comes to a new neighborhood. There RJ mets a group of other woodland animals that have been sleeping through the winter. He gets the idea that he could use them to gather up food to bring back to Vince. RJ explains the new environment of homes and the concept of savaging from them. There are different action scenes that take place (my favorite is the red wagon and the dog). Towards the end of the film, RJ has a change of heart and come to the aid of his new family.
"Over the Hedge" is a good-clean, family film.
Over the hedge is over the top! - Over the Hedge Reviews
Over The Hedge is over the top with animation, visual effects, sound production as well as story line. The visual quality almost made me forget these weren't REAL characters! The winsome creatures are charming and their antics are hysterical. The story line offers a cute "silly" plot, while cleverly developing an underlying "serious", altruistic theme. This movie guarantees the entire family laughter and a fun-filled family time, with different layers of meaning and appreciation for varying age groups. All together a delight!

What has happened to animated movies? - Over the Hedge Reviews
The Late 90's and early 2000's had a string of Great animated Movies -
Toy Story, Shrek, Finding Nemo, Ice Age, Shark Tale, and The Incredibles among others.
However, Starting last year with Madagascar and continuing this year with Ice Age 2 and now Over the Hedge - there is a trend to mediocrity.
The Main problem with Over the Hedge is that it is just not very funny - and the scenes that are funny are pretty much copies of other animated movies.
I do have to say the sound sysyem in the theater I was in was terrible, so I couldn't here that well - but I don't think I missed much.
Kids will like this movie because there is some funny physical comedy, but there is non of the wry in jokes that made the earlier movies fun for adults.
For adults I would recomend skiping this movie,
turning on your TV and watching The Simpsons or Family Guy instead - They are both far funnier.
Absolutely amazing! can't sum it up any better! - Over the Hedge Reviews
Most of the time, I never really get to sit down and write a review for a movie. But, you know, I am going to set aside a few minutes to share some thoughts on this film. I was so amazed by this movie. This movie really made me smile from beginning to end. Trust me, I am not someone you often see smiling at a movie or being scared at a movie. Never really show too much emotion is what I'm really trying to say. But, I couldn't hold myself back from smiling and laughing with this movie. The movie was beautifully crafted in every detail, from the animation all the way to the voices for the animals. There was never a single dull moment in this film. There is something captivating for everyone. Also, for those who have seen "Citizen Kane", a little special treat in there from Ozzie that I picked up on (brought a huge smile to my face!). I will recommend this movie to anyone and everyone. This movie definetely will find a way to wedge itself somewhere in your heart and mind. I will be attending this movie again during the week and definetely will be one of the first people in line to buy this movie when it comes out on DVD! It was that good, people. Please take my word for it!

Good movie for kids, but - Over the Hedge Reviews
This is no blockbuster. The animation was great - it was very visually enjoyable, but that was about it. Some of the dialogue was clever but there were several moments where the theater was silent for 10 minutes at a time and no one was laughing, and it was a full theater. It had it's funny moments, but I would not go so far as to say it was a "funny movie". The squirrel was probably the funniest and most clever character. Dreamworks is almost too concerned with how their movies look, rather than make a "good movie". Their animators are brilliant, don't get me wrong. But overall the movie was pretty dull. My kids enjoyed it, but most kids aren't critics - they just enjoy cartoons.
Great family movie. you must see it - Over the Hedge Reviews
I took my 3 1/2 year old to see over the edge and he loved it. It's rare when I can get him to watch a whole movie without his attention span plummeting. There are a lot of jokes that are geared towards adults(The adults were lauging more than the kids) but it was still great anyway. If you liked Madagascar you will LOVE this.
highly recommended!
Go on, take a peek - Over the Hedge Reviews
Who would've thought Bruce Willis would be playing a troubled NYPD officer and a michievous raccoon both in the same year? Well he has, and done both quite well. Bruce Willis, along with Eugene Levy, Nick Nolte, Wanda Sykes, & many others appear in the all-new Dreamworks animation, 'Over The Hedge'. Which is brought to us by the director of 1998's 'Antz', Tim Johnson, and the producer of last year's hit 'Madagascar' and the writer of the upcoming 'Charlotte's Web', Karey Kirkpatrick. In 'Over The Hedge' we are taken into what is left of some woodland creature's home, now invaded by suburban life and surrounded by an encompassing hedge. They now have a dilemma. Where are they going to find food? That's where Bruce Willis' character, RJ the raccoon comes in. He explains to them on the other side of the hedge that there are plenty of delicious varieties of food. Including Hammy the squirrel's (Steve Carell) new favorite, nacho cheese flavored chips. While Verne the turtle (Garry Shandling) is skeptical and warns the others that it isn't safe over the hedge they all go along with RJ anyways in hopes of retrieving tasty treats. What they are unaware of is that RJ only wants to gather food for a hungry bear (Nick Nolte) so he himself doesn't get killed.
'Over The Hedge' is nowhere near other animated films like 'Shrek' and 'Toy Story' in terms of greatness. It lacks a certain quality that is inexplicable. But it's still highly enjoyable. The animation itself is very good, there's lots of funny moments for both children and adults to enjoy, and the story is good. (Although there are a few flaws in it, but nothing major.) The good thing is 'Over The Hedge' isn't being made out to be what those other films were. From being based on a comic strip it sure turned out to be pretty good. If you haven't seen it already, I suggest you take some time and go see what's over the hedge. You might just see something you like.

Steve carrol is the funniest man alive! - Over the Hedge Reviews
Hammy stole the show. I thought this movie was very well done. Visually, it's very impressive and has a pretty good story line to go with it. It also has some inside jokes like Shrek...overall, I had a good time and some much needed laughs.
Over the hedge with an edge - Over the Hedge Reviews
I have to say this was a pretty cool action filled animation that kept my 3 year old on the edge of her seat. She stated this was her favorite movie ever. It was fun to watch. Bruce Willis and Wanda Sykes filled their characters voices well.
Family, comedy, and more! - Over the Hedge Reviews
"Over the Hedge" is filled with undeniable comedy and fun! But another fabulous thing about the film is that it's all about family! The movie kind of shows the things that true families should and shouldn't do, and would and wouldn't do.
A few examples are that each family member is different, and that family members should try to give of themselves to their own family, bi it their help, time ore even their own life!
I've seen plenty of films concerning families, but "Over the Hedge" totally rocks the house! Not to mention all the comedy that comes with it! Oh my gosh! I was laughing every few minutes throughout the entire movie! It was soooooo funny!!!
Besides a few brief sequences of rude humor, "Over the Hedge" is a relatively clean movie filled with loads of good morals, values, and FUN!!!
I would recommend this film to just about anyone!

Not perfect but still a really good movie - Over the Hedge Reviews
This movie was really well directed. This story had a spark that not all animated movie have. It was a really good beginning, middle and end. I was laughing throughout the movie. This movie is good for kids who like animated movie. Watch out The Davinci Code, Over the Hedge is comming after you in the race for 1st in the box office!
This movie was the best. Even though I didn't give the movie an A+ I still want people to go see the movie now!!
Don't trim the hedge! - Over the Hedge Reviews
You've got to see this movie if you have a soul. This movie will tickle it till it bursts out laughing on the floor. This isn't only a cute, cuddly hyperactive animal movie, but it's sure to bring a smile to the sci fi fan in you. Miss the good old fun of animated characters getting smashed and coming out unscathed? This movie is what's up, doc!
Over the hedge takes on da vinci?s code - Over the Hedge Reviews
The incredible animation and imagination of DreamWorks brings Over the Hedge. Over the Hedge is compiled with an all-star lineup that will not disappoint. This movie will bring in a wide audience but preferably a family occasion kind of movie. The characters are very intriguing and bring in the actors tone intact with the character?s attitude. Hilarious story that?s runtime is short which is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Notable cast members to name a few like Bruce Willis and Steve Carell are main parts of this whole movie.
Over the Hedge is about woodland creatures trying to get over the hedge into a newly discovered neighborhood. Also going up against a animal control villain that is trying to stop the animals from achieving their goal from the sneaky raccoon played by Bruce Willis. Banding up with his animal friends the raccoon named RJ brings in Hammy a squirrel, Stella the skunk, Ozzie the possum, and many others.
I really recommend Over the Hedge because it?s such a great animation movie that would likely be seen by a family.
But the question for Over the Hedge is could it be able to "Take a Stand" on next week with the much anticipated Marvel superhero adaptation X-Men 3: the Last Stand?
Invest in this hedge - Over the Hedge Reviews
Dreamworks new animated film is funnier than "Madagascar" but not as funny as "Shrek". However, the animation is far superior to both. Taken from the comic strip of the same name, "Hedge" is a cartoon environmental culture clash. Spurred on by the con artist "RJ the Raccoon", a band of cute critters work together to steal human food for themselves (actually for RJ). Lessons are learned (value of family, in particular), villains are defeated and the animals survive for the inevitable sequel. Unlike many other films of this genre, the adult jokes are kept to a minimum and are much more effective for it.
The animation really is terrific. The depth and detail is pretty amazing. The Dreamworks animation department continues to impress. All the vocal work led by Bruce Willis, William Shatner, Gary Shandling, Wanda Sykes, and Steve Carell is very well done. One problem for kids comes late in the film. A slow motion sequence will probably have to be explained otherwise, "Hedge" is a treat for the kids and should be enjoyed by parents as well.
Great animation - bad story - Over the Hedge Reviews
To take that much fabulous animation, and use such a terrible story... shame.
Voices could have been better too.
I laughed some. But the movie is not a keeper.
Won't buy the DVD, probably wait until it is on cable.
Was hoping to see more of the daily comicstrip that I love.
Enjoyed myself - Over the Hedge Reviews
I can honestly say that I enjoyed myself in this movie. It had good jokes, not as many as I had hoped for, but there are still a good amount in the movie. The most memerable towards the end of the movie, but I won't tell you what it is. If your kids want to go see this movie, then take them, or if you want to go spend some time with the family, then go see this movie. Worth the money.
