Adult humor does not belong in kid's movies....... - Over the Hedge Reviews
This movie was really cute! The moral was great, the animals were adorable....but....why do they have to add adult humor in children's movies? Like they have to add it to appeal to the adults...which they don't. It is sickening how they ruin a perfectly cute and morally ethical movie with crap.
****SPOILER****
For instance....when RJ says something to the effect of what to do if the humans come out..he replies that they should 'lick their privates'. My kids do not need to hear that. Then when the human comes out, they are all bent over with tongues hanging out (not actually licking though). And the squirrel makes numerous reference to 'finding his nuts' and other 'nut' reference. Not necessary. That is why the overall was a C+.

I noticed a way more adult joke that really took the innocence out of it.. it was extremely subtle the “fast acting squirrel is actually representing a “coke head” or crackhead.. right when introduced he acts very mannic asking where’s the food after they all just woke up from hibernating.. obviously there’s no food and the animals tell him.. it’s all gone we just woke up from winter remember.. showing he has bad memory jumping thought to thought. Then he says oh ya that’s right I remember blah blah blah and shoots off into the woods causing a piece of snow to fall and land on one of the animals heads which scares him so much he clutches his heart and falls to the ground “like a parent who just saw their kid on cocaine would do. And then while he’s laying on the ground his daughter comes to him and says dad “relax it’s just snow” which is a street term for cocaine. Very subtle but I caught on and the bread crumbs kept going until my suspicions were founded when the character outright stated the term of the drug the squirrels character might be acting like at the end of his introduction. Kids wouldn’t notice the squirrel as anything but funny but an adult would notice his erratic behaviour as that of a street crackhead..
